Galle Face Hotel Cafeteria — Interior 3D Render

Project at a glance
About Project
The Galle Face Hotel staff cafeteria was envisioned as more than a dining space. The project aimed to transform it into a café-like retreat, where employees can unwind, recharge, and feel removed from the demands of work. The design blends modern hospitality aesthetics with warmth and comfort, achieved through natural wood finishes, greenery, and layered lighting. By adopting biophilic design principles, the cafeteria conveys a sense of calm and relaxation, reinforcing well-being and enhancing the overall staff experience
Ideation and Result
The ideation process began with the client’s request to capture the feeling of a café and a place of relaxation. The design direction emphasized organic textures, plant-infused ceiling features, and varied seating arrangements that encourage both social interaction and private breaks. Warm wood accents, natural greenery, and pendant lighting were carefully chosen to create a welcoming environment inspired by biophilic design research, which shows that natural elements reduce stress and improve mood. The final renderings present a contemporary and inviting cafeteria with a harmonious balance of natural finishes, vibrant seating, and greenery overhead. Communal benches, high-top counters, and comfortable café tables provide flexibility for different styles of dining and relaxation. The ceiling detail, with wood slats and integrated plants, establishes a strong visual identity while echoing the tranquillity of nature indoors. The outcome is a cohesive, modern staff cafeteria that feels like a genuine café and supports relaxation, connection, and well-being.
